Yankees Injury Updates: Power-Hitting CF to start a rehab assignment

THE BRONX, NY --- It's no secret that the Yankees have been ravaged by injuries as of late. For the first time in some time, the Yankees got some positive injury updates, provided by manager Aaron Boone.
OF Trent Grisham (Hamstring)
Grisham suffered a hamstring injury in Toronto a few weeks ago rounding first base on an RBI double. It was initially thought that Grisham would miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, but after just over two weeks, Grisham is slated to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday. Boone said that Grisham could return to the Yankees lineup either Wednesday against the Tigers or Friday against the Twins, with a team off day on Thursday.
Prior to him going on the IL, Grisham had been one of the Yankees' hotter hitters. With the way the Yankees lineup has been struggling over the past 10 games, Grisham's bat is a welcome return.
LHP Max Fried (Elbow Bone Bruise)
For a big portion of last season, Fried acted as the ace of the Yankees' staff. This season was a mixed bag for Fried, with his last two starts not being phenomenal before being placed on the IL on May 15th with a left elbow bone bruise, coming after being removed from the game the day before. Tomorrow, Fried will throw a live session for the first time since being placed on the IL. It's going to still take time until Fried returns, but this is a good sign.
DH Giancarlo Stanton (Calf)
After being placed on the IL in April, working his way almost back to play, then re-injuring his calf, Stanton has begun his running progression. Stanton will take live at-bats tomorrow against Max Fried, which is a good sign. There is still no timetable for his return to play.
Ryan McMahon (Throat)
McMahon was placed on the IL last week with a throat infection. He is slated to return to the Yankees lineup Friday when the minimum on his IL stint is up. The Yankees have not decided whether or not McMahon will need a rehab assignment yet.
The Yankees have missed McMahon's defense a lot. They have committed numerous errors over the past two series that have cost their pitchers pitches and runs over the stretch where the team has really struggled.
