Yankees Reactions: A Series Loss to St. Louis
New York continues to struggle offensivly as they lose a series to the Cardinals going into the offday
NEW YORK — The Yankees lost to the Cardinals 3-1 to drop to 64-51 on the season. It was another night with light offense from the Yankees, which forced their pitching to be perfect, when it simply wasn't tonight.
HITTING HIGHLIGHT: The Yankees offense is still lost. They can't seem to get anything consistent going at the plate. Luis Garcia Jr. and George Lombard Jr.'s at-bats were the lone bright spots today, as was Lombard Jr.'s defense.

Ben Rice is in the midst of a 2-29 slide, which is not helping the flow of the lineup. Trent Grisham is chasing pitches a lot more than normal and has not been getting on base, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. has seemingly forgotten how to hit, though he had the lone RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning.
The Yankees offense went 0-9 with runners in scoring position with 10 runners left on base.
PITCHING HIGHLIGHT: Will Warren pitched better than his line indicated. Warren pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three runs on one walk. For a while during the outing, Warren was cruising. The three runs that Warren surrendered all came in the fifth inning on line drives to center field. It can be argued that Trent Grisham could have/should have come up with one, if not both, of those plays in center field to rob a hit and some runs.
NOTABLE: The most notable thing for the Yankees today came before the game when manager Aaron Boone told the media that Aaron Judge has been cleared to resume light running and exercises. Judge himself told the media that he will "be back this season." The Yankees' long slump coincides with the loss of Judge from the lineup, so getting him back at any capacity before the end of the season will help the lineup.
UP NEXT: The Yankees will have a much-needed off day on Thursday, their first in two weeks. After that, the Atlanta Braves will come to two for a big interleague matchup. In game 1, the Yankees will send Max Fried to the mound. The Braves have not announced a starter. First pitch is at 7:05pm on Friday. TV: YES RADIO: WFAN 101.9 FM
